Goal Number Seven (GNS) is an association that contributes to the progress towards the seventh Sustainable development goal (SDG), and namely towards providing access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy sources for all leaving no one behind.
The Association seeks to unite the maximum number of organizations and individuals interested in solving this problem, including:
participants of the renewable energy industry;
companies that make efforts to reduce their environmental damage from energy consumption and strive to increase their energy efficiency;
ordinary people who would like to make their energy consumption more environmentally friendly.
Goal Number Seven is the successor to the non-commercial partnership "Association of the renewable energy market participants" created in 2013. This partnership was focused on research in the field of renewable energy, as well as on the promotion of this industry
Over the past 5 years, a regulatory framework for renewable energy in the wholesale market has been formed in Russia, a number of professionals and experts have emerged that have not only implemented the full range of works on the design and construction of renewable energy facilities, but are also operating and maintaining solar and wind power plants. Huge work has been carried out in the industrial sector. Several industrial complexes have already been built or under construction now, which will ensure the production of the necessary equipment for renewable energy sector. Several new training centers and scientific laboratories have been established.
This stipulated the need to move away from the narrow framework of the non-commercial partnership "Association of the renewable energy market participants" and switch to a broader agenda of energy transition and sustainable development. In the UN General Assembly Resolution of September 25, 2015, "Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", the seventh goal is devoted to energy issues and formulated as: "Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all".
Our Association joins the international work to accomplish the targets of this goal:
- to ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy supply;
- to significantly increase the share of energy from renewable energy sources;
- to achieve a qualitative improvement in energy efficiency;
- to intensify international cooperation in clean energy research and new technologies;
- to assist the least developed countries in ensuring sustainable energy supply.
Apart from that, the Association intends to facilitate the reduction of the energy sector’s environmental impact.
Thus, we are creating a new organization aimed at addressing a wider range of issues related to the sixth technological revolution, whereby the energy sector is not a battleground for different types of energy technologies, but a platform that rationally combines them
to reduce the consumption of primary resources and to save our planet.
